Happy Birthday to my #1 guy :-)

Last Thursday was my dad's birthday. He's been retired twice in the last 16 years- he famously said he intended to be done with the world of work before he hit 45- and he did it. I think he was too bored to stay at home, so he "un-retired" himself a year later while I was in university. Dad finally opened his own cockpit door, grabbed a beer and slid out of work a few years ago. He bought a boat and spends all his time fishing.

(yes, I know I look messy... haha... my dress was cute though)

Dad said he had no idea we were planning a surprise party- which I find impossible to believe- the man shares his birthday with Miss Cleo the psychic.

I have had one HELL of a week.... and I think these rice krispies treats waffle cones will help to improve my mood immensely.

It's kinda bad to admit that there's probably a fat girl lurking inside me.

But with temptations like this lurking around....

Shark week starts this weekend, and since I actually fell asleep during the premiere episode of Project Runway (CRIMINAL) I'm going to have to stock up on energy drinks to be sure I don't miss a second.

Fingers crossed we will all have a good weekend .....

Reason #541 that it's great to be an adult

Two weeks ago I spent one week in bed sick like a dog - but on the upside!!!!

I had a great excuse to eat cupcakes- for dinner! ^_^

Chocolate cupcake with Oreo cookie frosting and the cutest little lavender butterfly. I felt bad eating it, but since I polished it off in two bites, I'm giving myself a pass this time.

Mrs. O has been campaigning against childhood obesity this week- and looking very stylish while she does it, wearing L'Wren Scott and Narciso Rodriguez. She spoke at the Grocery Manufacturers Association Science Forum yesterday. Mrs. Obama also has an article in the latest issue of Newsweek magazine, encouraging Americans to be more responsible about what they are feeding their kids- not bad advice at all, if you've ever walked into a McDonald's, you would know....after all, you are what you eat.

Wedding Cakes

Years ago (or so my gran says) people had to walk from the country to get cakes in St. John's for their weddings. They would set off early in the evening the day before the nuptials and walk back home the next morning ... with a wedding cake on top of their heads... WOW.

If it's got cream filling, chocolate, or flaky layers, I've gotta have it. I've been known to drive from Turner's to town just to buy an eclair... okay...six eclairs... from Philton's.
