HEAD TIED

 
 

I bought a yard of African fabric to make a pair of shorts (long story) and I ended up using it to make a head tie (turban) instead. I love the way it looks- especially when my hair could use a good wash, like it does today. To make myself presentable, I slapped on one MAC lipstick and a chunky necklace and headed out the door.

This whole look reminds me of the way my gran looks when she comes home balancing a bucket on her head. She taught me how to tie my hair up and balance a bucket of water (yeah yeah.. I'm a country girl and PROUD). It's been a lifetime since then, and while I don't farm for a living I found a way to work her look into my style, and that makes it something more than just a way to hide a bad hair day.

Christmas Gift Guide: Books

 

Are you stumped about what to buy this Christmas?Here are a few suggestions for the bookworm on your list. I've read all of these books and they have my ringing endorsement.

 

First suggestion is Through The Window by Floree Williams, a local author. I found this book to be a quick and enjoyable read, which surprisingly brought more than a couple tears to my eyes. To be honest I can relate to what the main character went through, and it was very well scripted. This book is good for teens and adults. You can buy it at Best Of Books.

Day off

I took the day off today to try to focus on meeting a deadline at work... instead of focusing on bank reconciliations and balance sheets... my mind kept drifting to fashion:- shoes, the new Prada see-through jewelled bag, the fact that someone "kinda' owes me a Chanel bag.... anything but my REAL JOB.

SIGH

Is there anyone else out there whose 9-5 doesn't exactly translate as 'dream  job"??? 

Here's my style icon- and now career icon- doing what she loves- and being fabulous while she does it... everyday.

Oh, and I need not remind you that June Ambrose is Antiguan.... one can dream.
