Nadine looked so beautiful. She made her own backpack and added feathers to her costume- took it from backline to front line! She does customized work for clients too- if anyone is interested for next year.

What I wore: Prints!

 

I have developed an unhealthy fixation with African prints. When I was much younger, my mum would buy the fabric and make these tops and long skirts- which I hated- they were so... stiff???... I just didn't get the hype. Fast forward 2o years and here I am, buying different colours in African prints and making corset tops and funky headbands (because I'm a crazy person when I'm ready...LOL). I saw Rihanna wearing a cropped ethnic top in a magazine, and I had almost bought one in Jamaica... so I decided to get it made instead.

 I was not gonna blog it... because the picture quality is #GODAWFUL . I decided to share it anyway... and it should be interesting to see how many weird glances I get from people wondering if I'm getting in touch with my roots.

It's just clothes baby!

 

yah.... so that's the corset.... I wore it with red skinny jeans. I will try and do a full outfit shot the next time I wear it... I am gonna do maxi skirt next, and turn that headband into a belt. (LOL)

Bright Ideas

 

I'm back- had to take a little break and focus on other "LIFE" stuff.

What's good about taking a break is that it tends to give me a new zest to get back into the swing of things. I've got loads of posts to share- outfits, more random ridiculousness- and even a few of my usual observations about stuff in general.

Today is the longest day of the year- and the start of summer! Things are brightening up everywhere, and I hope you guys are all good. Life is good- appreciate it! Seriously.

So, tomorrow I will post a new look I scored straight from Caribbean Fashion Week 2011 runway. I'm loving it and can't wait to show you- along with a new hairstyle (completely temporary).

Hello to all my readers- and a big THANK YOU to all who sent email greetings for the new year.

Hello to Mariana from Sweden! ^_^ I promise to try to write more too- just for you! It hasn't been a year since I started this blog, and already it has grown so much and I am grateful to each of you who faithfully log in to see what's going on.

At the start of the last decade, I wrote a list of things I wanted to accomplish. I had just finished University, and I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life- I was writing "serious" things like be the head of an accounting department, and I was also writing "silly" things like- get Tiffany jewelry, own a jeep, buy a Cartier watch... HAHA. I laugh now, except I have managed to do 11 of the 13 things I wrote on that list.

Today, I wrote a new list, and carried forward the two unaccomplished things from the last one.

I'm a firm believer in putting down whatever you want on paper- and working towards it... irrespective of how crazy it may seem.

Celebrate the things that make you the individual that you are. It's easy sometimes to copy what others are wearing and doing- but they are essentially "doing them"- and you should "do you".

In 2009, I had a crazy idea to glue sequins all over my face- ears included, for carnival.

It was taking so long that Staci and I came up with a compromise that took less time. This week I stumbled across this picture

 

I am going to try get a scaled down version of this done.
