Weathering the weather

 

With zero advance planning, I'm finally getting an opportunity to share one of my fav items that I own. It was pure serendipity.

How this post happened is.... I was minding my own business, just parked in my usual spot- when down came this freak shower... what the hell??? Black women don't like to get their hair wet- it frizzes, and it's awful.

So here is what  I wore that day-

LIFE is a sisterhood

Heading out for tappas and drinks, I stopped to get a quick outfit post up. The backdrop at the Sunshine Home for girls is so pretty- and has an awesome message- "LIFE is a sisterhood". That is a great message to send to all women.

This dress is completely sheer- completely. Topshop sold it without a liner, which is good for an exhibitionist, but baffling for a semi-prude like moi. Who am I kidding? I didn't care that it was sheer, I was gonna buy it and figure it out later. I am wearing black shorts under the dress in this shot, but I plan to get a bodysuit of some kind the next time I stumble past an Urban Outfitters store.

This is a perfect example of getting something without being 100% sure what you'd do about the styling- but it doesn't stop you from wanting it- badly.

 
This is an unforgettable dress, if only for the dozens of mirrors on the sleeve and the metallic hardware that completely covers the front of it.

I'm a legal alien

I found the most amazing dress- well, actually, Nicole suggested the most amazing dress to me. It's the kind of dress that lots of people would think looked cool, but probably wouldn't be willing to risk it. (that suits my personality to a tee).

So the dress is white with exaggerated sleeves and zipper detailing on the shoulder and skirt.... but it's a bit short. I love it anyway- even if it raises eyebrows. What's life if you live it to please other people? BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING.... and kinda tragic. Who died and made so many people kings anyway?  Exactly.

I suppose loving weird things, and bizaare shapes can make you a bit of an outsider.... like an alien...get it?? LOL. Luckily for me, this blogosphere is showing me that there are plenty of like-minded "aliens" out there.

Summer Feet

sandals by Tory Burch. Had to take my feet out of them, I really love the floral print and the tulips are some of my favourite flowers.

So its time for pedicures and sandals (actually its always that time in Antigua) but for some people.... its time to break out the cuticle softeners and get the piggies in order.

Do you have a favourite summer staple? Mine involve Birkenstocks.. I think I've shared too many of those shots to put any birkies in this post. These are the runners-up.

It's July! Carnival's almost here.... so excited ( and I hope it stays that way)
